About The Position

At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Assistant Director of Nursing/Nurse Manager is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population, will supervise, coordinate and direct the twenty four hour daily operation of a unit(s) and the staff. They provide a cost effective, safe, therapeutic and aesthetically pleasing environment. Qualified candidates will demonstrate superior patient care and possess outstanding communication skills while adhering to our high standard of excellence.

Requirements

  • NYS RN Licensure.
  • Minimum five years post-licensure in nursing with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Master's degree in Nursing, Health Care Administration or related field or current enrollment in a healthcare related Master's program.
  • Minimum three years relevant nursing experience in the care of medicine patients.
  • Minimum two years management/supervisory experience.
  • Proficiency in computer skills.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services
  • Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
  • Successfully complete a 4 panel drug screen
  • Meet Regulatory Requirements for pre employment screenings.
  • Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s).

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in Nursing specialty.
  • Clinical and/or leadership experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies staffing needs based on patient acuity and nurse level of practice.
  • Plans monthly and vacation time schedules.
  • Interviews and recommends selection of nursing staff.
  • Completes shift and/or daily patient care and unit assignment sheets based on patient acuity and nurses' levels of practice.
  • Delegate’s specific tasks to subordinates according to their abilities and the task at hand, providing them with direction and supervision for successful task completion.
  • Monitors the quality of nursing care rendered, and the documentation of the nursing process through direct interaction with nursing staff and their assigned patients.
  • Coordinates the delivery of patient care rendered, and the documentation of the nursing process through direct interaction with nursing staff and their assigned patients. Conducts ongoing review and audit of patients' medical records.
  • Ensures all staff's compliance with safety and environmental standards.
  • Establishes and maintains per levels of equipment and supplies needed to provide direct and indirect patient care.
  • All other duties as assigned.
