About The Position

The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals and objectives. This position assists in contributing to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, educational and performance and improvement efforts, while providing supervision of House Supervisors, RN’s and MHTs. This position will monitor staffing needs on assigned shifts. This position is responsible for assisting the CNO in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN/MHT staff required training. Also provides, on as-needed basis, patient nursing assessments. Participates in Treatment Team meetings as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required.
  • One (1) year of progressive nursing leadership experience required.
  • Experience in staff education and education concepts, practices and procedures.
  • 24 hour shift staffing experience.
  • Currently licensed to practice by the Iowa State Board of Nursing.
  • Thorough knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC) CMS, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • CPR certification within 30 days of employment.
  • Successful completion of training in Verbal De-Escalation and Handle With Care training.
  • Service Excellence Training within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • A minimum of Three (3) year of experience progressive nursing leadership experience.
  • At least 3 year of Psychiatric RN experience.
