About The Position

The Dermatology Nurse Manager for the Greater Charlotte Area (GCA) is a dynamic, multi-site leadership role responsible for overseeing clinical operations across six dermatology practice locations: SouthPark, Pineville, Union West, Birkdale, Concord, and LCI. This position reports directly to the Clinic Director of Dermatology. This leader manages a team of 43 clinical staff members, including Medical Assistants, Registered Nurses (RNs), the Mohs Referral Coordinator, and three Lead Certified Medical Assistants (CMAs). The Lead CMAs provide critical frontline leadership support, assisting with daily staffing coordination, scheduling optimization, and workflow management across sites. The Nurse Manager is accountable for ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, operational efficiency, and a consistently positive patient experience across all locations. The role partners closely with 14 dermatology providers, including two Mohs surgeons, supporting both general dermatology and specialized surgical services. Success in this position requires strong leadership, effective communication, and the ability to standardize workflows while remaining responsive to the unique needs of each location. This role is critical in advancing clinical excellence, strengthening frontline leadership through Lead CMAs, aligning operations across multiple practices, and supporting the continued growth and success of the dermatology service line.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing required.
  • Current RN licensure in appropriate state.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred. Must have or complete MSN if undergraduate degree is not BSN. Enrollment in MSN program within 1 year of hire/transfer date and graduation of MSN program required within 5 years of hire. If undergraduate degree is BSN, a master's degree from a health-related program or MBA is acceptable.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.
  • Appropriate professional certification (either clinical or leadership) is required within 1 year of eligibility for professional certification exam.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a multi-site clinical team, including direct oversight of Lead CMAs to enhance daily operations and staffing execution
  • Ensure consistency in clinical workflows, patient care standards, and regulatory compliance
  • Oversee staffing plans and scheduling strategies in collaboration with Lead CMAs to maintain adequate coverage across all sites
  • Support Mohs surgery coordination and referral processes to optimize patient access and outcomes
  • Collaborate with physicians and the Clinic Director to improve operational effectiveness and support growth initiatives
  • Monitor quality metrics, patient experience, and clinical performance across all locations
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and care delivery
  • Continually demonstrates and supports a Professional Practice model that allows nurses to work in collaboration with interdisciplinary partners to achieve high-quality patient outcomes.
  • Ensures that unit operations and employees are in compliance with the Nursing Practice Act, regulatory agency standards, and policies and procedures.
  • Functions as a team member to accomplish goals and objectives of the unit and the organization, upholding quality management, patient care, and departmental standards.
  • Assumes responsibility in the recruitment and retention of qualified staff and to ensure appropriate orientation, education, credentialing and continuing professional development of personnel through mutual goal setting and performance evaluation.
  • Delegates effectively by promoting shared governance, developing and nurturing research to positively affect clinical outcomes.
  • Performs nursing care, assists with treatments, therapies, procedures, and administers medications as necessary.
  • Provides and assesses effectiveness of patient and family education.
  • Participates with performance improvement activities to improve quality of nursing care, promote patient outcomes and provide a cost-effective environment for patient care.
  • Assists in development of policies, procedures and standards reflective of evidence-based practice.
  • Promotes shared accountability for professional practice.
  • Allocates resources to meet the unit needs.
  • Responsible for budgetary oversight, and along with staff involvement, accountable to the organization for maintaining a cost-effective unit.
