About The Position

Freedom Behavioral’s West Monroe facility is a 40-bed acute care hospital dedicated to providing specialized mental and behavioral health services for the adult and geriatric populations. The hospital delivers a comprehensive range of care, including both inpatient and outpatient treatment options, designed to support the unique needs of adults.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing minimum, with MSN oversight.
  • Current RN License in good standing with the State of Louisiana

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Prepared strongly preferred.
  • Previous psychiatric management experience is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Upholding the standards of care established by regulatory and accrediting bodies.
  • Providing oversight and direction to all direct care nursing staff.
  • Ensuring that the unit is staffed safely and according to protocol.
  • Providing assistance as needed to the nursing staff with regard to decision making, clinical judgement issues, medical staff communication, as well as providing direct patient care when indicated.
  • Assuming nursing administrator on call duties when indicated.
  • Providing direct oversight to the nursing staff.
  • Participating in the QAPI process with monitoring, tracking and analyzing nursing data.
  • Coordinating with the Staffing Coordinator to ensure proper patient care is maintained by shifts being adequately staffed.
  • Coordinating the performance of nursing care to patients within the scope of practice and in compliance with policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Collaborating with Human Resources on hiring and termination of employees in the nursing department.
  • Completing performance evaluations for nursing staff as scheduled.
  • Actively working with Intake and the Service Development Department to facilitate admissions into the facility in a timely manner.
  • Maintaining knowledge of admission criteria and accurately documenting admission criteria for new admissions.
  • Functioning as a member of the Utilization and Treatment Team to participate in the communication of identified patient goals, interventions, and assessment.
  • Acting as a resource for all administrative, nursing, and direct care staff in formulation of policies, procedures, forms, and process that directly affect the nursing department and patient care.
  • Ensuring survey readiness through regulatory compliance and quality standards of care.
  • Collaborating on facilities’ projects and program development to oversee the safe accurate, development, and implementation of patient care.
  • Participating as a member of the leadership team within the facility.
