Nurse Manager – Trauma Intensive Care Unit
About The Position
Cleveland Clinic Main Campus is establishing a comprehensive trauma care program, aiming for Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center activation. This initiative presents a unique opportunity for caregivers to contribute to building a premier trauma program from its inception. The future Trauma Intensive Care Unit will be a new 14-bed ICU dedicated to providing post-resuscitation critical care for patients with complex traumatic injuries. These patients will receive specialized intensive care following stabilization in the Emergency Department or Operating Room, requiring a multidisciplinary approach integrating expertise from surgical, neurological, medical, cardiovascular, and trauma specialties. The Nurse Manager will be instrumental in building and leading this new Trauma ICU team, including recruiting and developing nurses, establishing the unit's culture and operational standards, and ensuring quality, safety, and caregiver development. Collaboration with trauma leadership, physicians, advanced practice providers, and other critical care teams will be essential in defining the care model and ensuring a seamless continuum of care. This role offers the chance to shape the identity and operating model of a new Trauma ICU, influence trauma patient care, and make a significant impact on caregivers, patients, and the growth of the trauma program.
Requirements
- Bachelor's of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN)
- Current state licensure as Registered Nurse (RN)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA)
- Three years of recent nursing clinical experience with at least one year of healthcare management experience
- High degree of clinical expertise in specialty area managed
- Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problems solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills

Responsibilities
- Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
- Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
- Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
- Supervise caregivers and promote development.
- Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
- Coordinate unit operations with other units/departments.
- Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.
- Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.
- Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.
- Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
