About The Position

Heartline Staffing is recruiting a Nurse Manager – Surgical Services for a full-time, on-site opportunity in Fredericksburg, Virginia. This Registered Nurse leadership role provides operational oversight of the Operating Room and Central Sterile/Reprocessing departments while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative care. A current Nurse Manager title is not required. Candidates with direct leadership experience as a Charge RN, Clinical Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, Team Lead, or similar role may be considered.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing REQUIRED
Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or active multistate compact RN license REQUIRED
Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association REQUIRED
Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room / Surgical Services experience in an acute care hospital REQUIRED
Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practice and patient-safety standards REQUIRED

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
Master's degree
Leadership experience as a Charge RN, Clinical Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, Team Lead, or similar role
Experience with staffing, scheduling, productivity management, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance

Responsibilities

Provide 24-hour operational oversight of the Operating Room and Central Sterile/Reprocessing departments.
Lead daily Operating Room operations, including surgical scheduling, staffing, workflow coordination, and case progression.
Oversee approximately 15 direct reports within a department consisting of 4 Operating Rooms.
Partner with physicians, anesthesia providers, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams.
Support patient safety, regulatory compliance, staff engagement, operational efficiency, and continuous process improvement.
Ensure appropriate utilization of personnel, equipment, and surgical resources.
Develop and manage staff schedules while supporting productivity goals.
Monitor labor utilization, including premium labor, and implement strategies to improve efficiency.
Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate perioperative staff.
Promote patient safety, teamwork, accountability, and quality patient care.
Oversee supply management, inventory utilization, and cost-containment initiatives.
Analyze departmental metrics and prepare reports related to Surgical Services performance.
Lead quality-improvement initiatives and support evidence-based practice.
Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, infection-prevention practices, and risk-management initiatives.
Collaborate with physicians and leadership to improve patient flow and operational performance.
Support employee engagement and professional development.
