About The Position

Heartline Staffing is recruiting a Nurse Manager – Surgical Services for a full-time, on-site opportunity in Fredericksburg, Virginia. This Registered Nurse leadership role provides operational oversight of the Operating Room and Central Sterile/Reprocessing departments while supporting safe, efficient, and high-quality perioperative care. A current Nurse Manager title is not required. Candidates with direct leadership experience as a Charge RN, Clinical Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, Team Lead, or similar role may be considered.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing REQUIRED
  • Current Registered Nurse license in Virginia or active multistate compact RN license REQUIRED
  • Current Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association REQUIRED
  • Minimum 2 years of recent Operating Room / Surgical Services experience in an acute care hospital REQUIRED
  • Strong knowledge of perioperative nursing practice and patient-safety standards REQUIRED

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Master's degree
  • Leadership experience as a Charge RN, Clinical Supervisor, Assistant Nurse Manager, Team Lead, or similar role
  • Experience with staffing, scheduling, productivity management, quality improvement, and regulatory compliance

Responsibilities

  • Provide 24-hour operational oversight of the Operating Room and Central Sterile/Reprocessing departments.
  • Lead daily Operating Room operations, including surgical scheduling, staffing, workflow coordination, and case progression.
  • Oversee approximately 15 direct reports within a department consisting of 4 Operating Rooms.
  • Partner with physicians, anesthesia providers, nursing leadership, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Support patient safety, regulatory compliance, staff engagement, operational efficiency, and continuous process improvement.
  • Ensure appropriate utilization of personnel, equipment, and surgical resources.
  • Develop and manage staff schedules while supporting productivity goals.
  • Monitor labor utilization, including premium labor, and implement strategies to improve efficiency.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor, and evaluate perioperative staff.
  • Promote patient safety, teamwork, accountability, and quality patient care.
  • Oversee supply management, inventory utilization, and cost-containment initiatives.
  • Analyze departmental metrics and prepare reports related to Surgical Services performance.
  • Lead quality-improvement initiatives and support evidence-based practice.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, infection-prevention practices, and risk-management initiatives.
  • Collaborate with physicians and leadership to improve patient flow and operational performance.
  • Support employee engagement and professional development.
