Nurse Manager Surgical Services
About The Position
Reporting to the Director, Clinical Services, the Nurse Manager Surgical Services provides leadership, authority and accountability for the nursing practice and delivery of care to patients and families in the Operating Room. The incumbent collaborates with patient, family, health care team, and other hospital services to ensure the effective provision of Surgical Services. The Nurse Manager is also a member of the team that directly assesses patient status and responds to actual or potential health problems, plans and performs interventions; evaluates patient outcomes following standards, guidelines and scope of professional nursing practice, with the intention of maintaining and regaining patient health.
Requirements
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in Nursing
- Five years relevant experience as an acute care Registered Nurse
- Three years of related leadership experience in a relevant healthcare environment
- Eligible to register with CANNN
Nice To Haves
- Experience in surgical service
- A Master’s degree in Nursing, Health Administration or Quality Improvement
- Experience in budgeting and finance
- Ability to communicate in more than one of Nunavut’s official languages
- Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut
- Experience working in a northern cross-cultural environment
Responsibilities
- Ensuring that the preparation, delivery and evaluation of clinical services are in accordance with evidence based practice, standards of care, and Accreditation Canada standards
- Providing professional and clinical supervision
- Planning, implementing and managing the surgical services budget
- Leading and supporting the development of the surgical services team
- Participating in quality improvement activities focused on patient care

- Northern Allowance: $16,328 per year

- Recruitment bonuses: $5,000 on start date, $5,000 at 18 months of service and $10,000 at 30 months of service
- Annual Frontline Allowance: $9,000
- Monthly Retention Bonus: $4,500 per year
