The Manager is responsible for the ongoing, effective operations and the assessment and improvement of activities within their department, which facilitates the functioning of the overall organization. The Manager supports an organizational culture for Service Excellence and practices the Service Excellence standards to all customer groups. The position involves developing, implementing, and evaluating an age-appropriate plan of care utilizing the nursing process, clinical skills, and patient education. It also requires maintaining professional behavior, providing a safe environment for patients, families, visitors, and employees, assessing and implementing patient safety precautions, and complying with organizational and accrediting agency standards for safety and injury prevention. The concepts of the patient-centered care delivery model will provide the foundation for all nursing care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current licensure/permit to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • BSN required or must complete within 2 years
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association upon hire or within 30 days of start date and maintain certification throughout employment. This must be obtained prior to providing patient care.
  • Appropriate clinical experience
  • ACLS within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment
  • PALS within 3 months of hire and maintain certifications throughout employment.
  • TNCC within 6 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Handle with Care within 3 months of hire and maintain certification throughout employment.
  • Minimum of 4 – 6 month’s experience as an employed nursing student in the specific unit, nursing students must have completed a leadership semester in the ED, or one year as an RN in a hospital setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 2 years leadership experience preferred
  • ENPC encouraged

Responsibilities

  • Provides an environment conducive to safety for patients, families, visitors, and employees.
  • Assess risks to patient safety and implement the appropriate precautions.
  • Complies with appropriate and approved standards, as outlined by the organization and accrediting agencies.
  • Complies with safety and injury prevention standards to minimize risk to self, co-workers, patients, and visitors.
