The role includes scheduling nurse visits, conducting annual evaluations, training, scheduling, delegating work, and taking disciplinary actions. Responsibilities also encompass reviewing laboratory reports, managing follow-up systems for abnormal results, preparing nursing staff schedules and daily assignments, and monitoring medical supplies and equipment within budget. The Nurse Manager assists in developing educational materials, conducts staff audits, and may participate in research. Collaboration with front desk supervisors and other supervisors/departments is essential, as is maintaining open communication with CHC directors and Corporate Directors regarding medical care. The role involves handling agitated patients, filling out grievance reports, and participating in defining nursing standards and community activities. The Nurse Manager manages patient care as a team effort, demonstrating commitment to the health center mission and values. They provide clinical assistance to Medical, Dental, and Behavioral Health Departments, formulate and direct plans of care, and delegate tasks based on legal scopes of practice, effectively supervising nursing care. The effectiveness of the care plan is evaluated through observation and communication, with modifications made as needed. The Nurse Manager acts as a client advocate, initiates actions to improve health care, and ensures clients can make informed decisions. They assist in developing and implementing a nursing quality improvement component, prepare reports, and help develop/implement protocols and procedures, ensuring staff competency. The role also involves working with the OSHA supervisor to maintain safety standards.
