About The Position

The Nurse Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and delegating activities for the safe, efficient, and effective operation of the unit. This includes active participation with other hospital departments and leadership, providing resources and guidance for evidence-based practice, and ensuring staff are prepared to meet credentialing bodies' requirements. The role involves identifying key drivers in the throughput process, evaluating areas of responsibility, and developing solutions to barriers. The Nurse Manager also plans and manages patient care processes to improve performance, facilitates the delivery of quality patient care, and ensures documentation meets hospital and credentialing standards. They are responsible for staffing based on patient care needs, personnel functions including performance reviews and corrective action, promoting professional growth and development, recognizing accomplishments, promoting staff retention, facilitating new staff orientation, and supporting shared decision-making through the unit-based council. Additionally, the Nurse Manager incorporates customer needs into daily operations and business planning, promotes team building, prepares operating and capital budgets, manages approved budgets effectively, and evaluates patient care requirements based on acuity, system, and budgetary guidelines. Professional accountability includes involvement in professional organizations, participation in committees, staying current with professional activities, alerting appropriate individuals regarding ethical and legal concerns, educating staff on the chain of command, acting as a role model/mentor, adhering to the ANA Code of Ethics, complying with hospital policies and the Nurse Practice Act, participating in community activities, making appropriate referrals, participating in 360-degree evaluations, creating development plans, completing reports in a timely manner, and utilizing various resources for development.

Bachelor's Degree Nursing Required
3 Years Experience as a registered nurse with previous experience as a charge nurse or similar leadership role (i.e., charge nurse, committee chair, preceptor, supervisor) Required
RN - Registered Nurse Upon Hire Required
BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly Required
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support with in 90 Days of hire Required
CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention Training Maintained Annually with in 90 Days of hire Required
NIHSS - National Institute of Health Stroke Scale Certification with in 90 Days of hire Required
Knowledge of industry standards: organization, theory, principles, and research processes, quality improvement and change management techniques, financial analysis, budget process and planning, accreditation and regulatory standards, strategic planning principles, ability to assess nursing care requirements based on nursing principles, scope of practice, and regulatory standards.
