About The Position

The Nurse Manager Outpatient, Pediatrics role at Accordia Health is responsible for supervising nursing services, identifying and implementing solutions for nursing system deficiencies, and ensuring compliance with nursing guidelines and staff certification requirements. This position involves direct supervision of RNs, LPNs, and Medical Assistants, conducting staff meetings for updates and continuing education, and leading daily patient staffing huddles. The Nurse Manager collaborates with leadership and quality assurance teams, maintains a safe and clean working environment, oversees medical equipment and supplies, and participates in clinic workflow optimization. Additionally, the role includes administering human resources functions such as interviewing, screening, training, performance evaluations, and ensuring staff competence. The Nurse Manager is expected to seek clinical supervision, maintain courteous and respectful interactions, and perform administrative duties as assigned, including participation in performance improvement activities and committee work. The position requires adherence to Accordia Health policies and maintaining current licensure and continuing education requirements.

Requirements

  • Possesses current RN’s license to practice in the state of Alabama.
  • A minimum of two (2) years proven clinical management experience.
  • Must possess a valid Alabama Driver’s License.
  • Must have proof of current liability insurance.
  • Knowledge of medical and psychiatric disorders in the infant and children population
  • Knowledge of general and family medicine or acute nursing care
  • Significant knowledge of medical terminology
  • Familiarity of pharmacology for infant and children.
  • Knowledge of behavior management, crisis intervention, and interventions common to patients with mental health conditions
  • Knowledge of educational methods appropriate to infant and children specific to medical conditions
  • Knowledge of cultural diversity
  • Knowledge of all applicable standards

Responsibilities

  • Supervises Nursing Services provided at Accordia Health
  • Identifies and monitors nursing systems related to Accordia Health and implements effective solutions for deficiencies
  • Works closely with program supervisor, Quality, and PI to maintain nursing guidelines and systems
  • Monitors ongoing compliance with Nurse certification requirements pertaining to staff supervised
  • Provides supervision and oversight of RN, LPN and Medical Assistants
  • Conducts staff meetings to provide programmatic updates, continuing education on POC, protocol, and clinical skills for all nursing and medical assistants.
  • Leads daily Huddles/patient staffing with designated medical team members
  • Monitors and assists with the coordination of services within the medical team
  • Collaborates with Leadership, Quality, PI & program supervisor regarding nursing issues and services
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by designing/implementing procedures and protocols
  • Assists with ensuring active operation of medical equipment and administrative equipment
  • Oversite of maintaining necessary medical supplies/inventory
  • Oversite and management of VFC inventory and monitoring
  • Work provider clinics, nurse visits, triage and other clinical responsibilities when deemed necessary
  • Works with clinic management and clinic staff to ensure clinic workflow is effective, efficient and thorough with the most up-to-date nursing practices
  • Interviews and screens nursing applicants and completes appropriate forms as outlined by policy & procedures
  • Provides staff training in the general orientation of Accordia Health, policies and procedures, program operations and specific skills areas
  • Is knowledgeable and applies HR policies and procedures on a consistent basis
  • Objectively completes employee performance evaluations on program staff and routes Human Resources department on a timely basis
  • Provides staff with consultation and supervision individually and through regular group staff meetings
  • Ensures competence of program nursing staff
  • Completes API function bi-weekly within set timeframe given by payroll department
  • Seeks clinical supervision and consultation as needed
