The Medical ICU at Weston Hospital provides various services and procedures, including bronchoscopies, endoscopies, emergent intubations and central line placements. As Nurse Manager in the Medical ICU, you will play an essential role in the practice and delivery of patient care. You will supervise all aspects of personnel management and development while maintaining adherence to regulatory standards. This position requires communication skills, compassion, empathy, patience and a team mindset. You will have excellent opportunities to advance your career while guiding our nursing team in providing quality care. A caregiver in this role works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) through American Heart Association (AHA) or ALS through American Red Cross) Certification must be presented upon hire or within first year of hire
  • Three years of recent clinical nursing experience, including at least one year of healthcare management experience
  • High degree of clinical expertise in the specialty area
  • Demonstrated leadership, management, communication, counseling, problem solving, decision making, conflict resolution and group process skills

Nice To Haves

  • MSN or equivalent degree
  • Five years of recent ICU experience
  • Two years of progressive experience in nursing leadership and management
  • Certification in specialty area or leadership

Responsibilities

  • Manage the operation and practice of professional nursing and delivery of nursing care on an assigned unit.
  • Establish clinical direction of nursing care, provide clinical supervision and maintain quality outcomes and patient care standards.
  • Identify and resolve issues affecting the delivery of patient care.
  • Develop quality initiatives and implement policies and procedures to ensure efficient and effective delivery of health services in a unit.
  • Supervise caregivers and promote development.
  • Maintain adherence to JCAHO and other regulatory standards.
  • Develop and monitor budgets, approve purchases and establish/revise inventory quotes.
  • Analyze personnel structure and determine staffing needs.
  • Evaluate performance, conduct selection and termination processes and develop strategic plans.
  • Participate in clinical nursing research and support foundation research activities.
