About The Position

Serves as a member of the organization’s nursing leadership team. Responsible for day-to-day operations, scheduling, staffing and providing 24/7 accountability for patient care delivery, planning, and evaluation of services of one or more clinical areas. Participates in and supports strategic development and outcomes management of nursing clinical areas. Responsible for review and evaluation of operations and services in accordance with business requirements, marketplace trends and technological needs. Provides clinical and administrative leadership for planning, organizing, directing, monitoring and evaluating safe, superior and preeminent quality patient care to ensure the advancement of clinical practice and patient care for a nursing unit that is consistent with the ANA Scope of Practice, American Organization of Nurse Leaders (AONL) Nurse Leader/Manager competencies, and American Nurses Credentialing Center Magnet Standards. Collaborates with and supports director and key leaders, groups and stakeholder audiences in the development and implementation of operational plans, goals and objectives.

Requirements

  • State of Michigan Registered Nursing license required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years clinical nursing and demonstrated leadership experience at the unit level in labor and delivery.
  • Knowledge of professional nursing practice in a clinical specialty evidenced through professional practice/administrative certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Appropriate Master's Degree in Nursing, Business or Health Administration preferred.
  • Magnet approved certification preferred within 24 months of hire.
  • Member of a professional nursing organization preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a member of the nursing leadership team to participate in the development of the nursing strategic plan, short- and long-term goals and objectives, standards of care and operating plans for the assigned clinical area(s).
  • Collaborates with members of the inter-professional team and unit staff in the development, implementation, and monitoring of unit operating and capital budgets.
  • Develops, implements, and manages ongoing measurement, action planning, and evaluation methods related to all dimensions of performance inclusive of colleague engagement, patient and family experience, workplace safety, healthy work environments, clinical outcomes and financial performance targets for the assigned clinical area(s).
  • Develops, implements, and monitors plans related to education and required competencies, orientation, retention, cultural competence, conflict management, and coaching of colleagues to ensure safe, quality, patient care for the assigned clinical area(s).
