About The Position

Riverside Health System is seeking a hands-on Nurse Manager for their Labor & Delivery unit, specifically for the night shift. This role is crucial for leading clinical excellence during critical decision-making hours, fostering team collaboration, and impacting patient outcomes and team culture. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for leading clinical excellence, serving as a clinical resource, driving quality and safety initiatives, building physician partnerships, developing their team, managing operational performance, and representing Riverside in the community.

Requirements

  • RN with a BSN required.
  • 2+ years of obstetrical nursing experience (inpatient or outpatient).
  • Active RN license in Virginia (or compact state).

Nice To Haves

  • MSN or higher preferred.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Specialty certifications (EFM, Inpatient OB, etc.) preferred.
  • Strong clinical judgment and the ability to lead in high-acuity situations.
  • A collaborative, approachable leadership style that builds trust.

Responsibilities

  • Lead clinical excellence, ensuring the team delivers evidence-based, culturally competent care across obstetrical services.
  • Serve as a clinical resource, validate competencies, coach staff, and maintain a strong presence on the unit.
  • Drive quality and safety by monitoring outcomes, identifying risks, and implementing improvements.
  • Build strong physician partnerships to advance care practices and support a culture of trust.
  • Lead and develop the team through hiring, onboarding, coaching, and retention efforts.
  • Own operational performance, managing staffing, productivity, and budget expectations.
  • Engage beyond the unit by representing Riverside in the community and supporting health initiatives.
