About The Position

The Nurse Manager leads a team of professional health care providers, cultivating collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. They create and facilitate an environment that supports the nursing professional practice model and functions as a key member of the health care team. This role provides patient care and supportive services in an in-patient setting, aiming for positive patient care outcomes, maximizing patient involvement in their care plan, improving service levels, reducing hospitalization length, and decreasing costs. The Nurse Manager ensures patients and their families experience patient-focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members. The span of control is based on unit capacity, complexity, and FTE oversight, supported by evidence of patient satisfaction, quality, safety, staff engagement, and resilience. The Nurse Manager oversees, plans, organizes, manages, and evaluates patient care operations for a designated area(s) on a 24-hour basis as needed. They plan and develop strategic goals and processes to enhance unit operations, supporting the Medical Center's mission, vision, and values. This includes evaluating achievements and problems in meeting goals, managing, guiding, coaching, and evaluating patient care staff, and promoting collaboration with other departments. The role involves developing, administering, and managing unit budgets, identifying cost-saving initiatives, participating in the development of evidence-based standards of practice, and identifying opportunities for improvement in patient care and organizational processes. The Nurse Manager assumes leadership in identifying and correcting factors contributing to problematic outcomes. Surgical Specialties is a high-volume ambulatory clinic supporting separate surgical divisions, providing comprehensive pre- and post-operative care, nurse triage, patient education, care coordination, and procedural support. The clinic supports general surgery, colorectal surgery, plastic surgery, neurosurgery, and cardiac surgery.

Requirements

Baccalaureate degree in nursing required.
Current Ohio RN license.
Minimum of three years RN clinical experience.
Minimum of two years management experience in relevant care setting required.
Prior leadership and management experience required.

Nice To Haves

Masters Degree in Nursing or related field is preferred.
Holds a current certification in nursing administration or area of clinical expertise; or certification must be achieved within the timeline of eligibility.

Promotes and ensures ongoing collaboration with other patient care departments and areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient care operations and services.
Develops, administers and manages unit budget plans.
Identifies, plans and initiates cost saving initiatives.
Participates in development of evidence-based standards of practice.
Identifies opportunities for improvement in patient care and organizational processes.
Assumes leadership in identifying and correcting factors contributing to problematic outcomes.
Provides comprehensive pre- and post-operative care, nurse triage, patient education, care coordination, and procedural support while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care.
