Requirements

  • CA RN license
  • Minimum of five years of progressive leadership experience in hospital or healthcare operations.
  • Strong knowledge of hospital systems and operational best practices.
  • Excellent financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Proven track record in process improvement and change management.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or other performance improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and hospital information systems.
  • Staffing office oversight, working knowledge of CA AB 394 , EMTALA, and Throughput.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with developing and implementing operational strategies in alignment with the hospital’s mission, vision, and long-term goals.
  • Supports strategic initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, operational efficiency, and organizational growth.
  • Alongside the Director of Clinical Operations, oversees day-to-day hospital operations, including patient flow, staffing coordination, and resource utilization.
  • Monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Provides support by preparing and managing operational budgets; ensures adherence to financial targets and cost containment goals.
  • Identifies opportunities for financial improvement while maintaining service excellence.
  • Assists with leading quality improvement initiatives focused on patient safety, clinical outcomes, and service delivery.
  • Collaborates with quality teams to ensure best practices and evidence-based standards are consistently applied.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as accreditation standards (e.g., Joint Commission, CMS).
  • Participates in audits, inspections, and readiness assessments.
  • Leads, mentors, and supports operational management teams.
  • Promotes professional development, succession planning, and a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Analyzes operational workflows and identifies areas for increased efficiency, cost savings, and enhanced patient satisfaction.
  • Implements change management strategies to support organizational improvements.
  • In collaboration with Director, serves as a key liaison between executive leadership, department heads, and frontline staff.
  • Fosters effective communication and collaborative relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care and services appropriate to the population served on the assigned unit or work area.
