About The Position

Registered Nurse supporting the Nurse Manager in laboratory operations, clinical compliance, and staff development at Fairfield Emergency Room. Primary focus: CLIA and COLA compliance, lab instrumentation, and onboarding support. This full-time role includes 24 hours of administrative work and one 12-hour clinical floor shift per week.

Requirements

  • Current Texas RN license in good standing
  • Minimum 3 years of emergency room nursing experience
  • BLS, ACLS, and PALS required; NIHSS required within 30 days of hire
  • Working knowledge of CLIA and COLA compliance expectations
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and familiarity with EMR and Microsoft 365

  • BSN, CEN, and ENPC preferred

Responsibilities

  • Operate, calibrate, QC, and maintain lab instruments; troubleshoot and coordinate with Biomed
  • Maintain CLIA and COLA documentation, American Proficiency Institute (API) proficiency testing, and staff competency binders
  • Monitor lab supply inventory and reagent expiration; flag reorder needs to the Nurse Manager
  • Track chart audits, crash cart logs, temperature logs, high-level disinfection records, and staff certification expirations; report gaps to the Nurse Manager
  • Ensure follow-up and physician notification on all send-out specimens
  • Document incidents accurately; collaborate on quality and process improvement
  • Serve as clinical resource for new-hire orientation and skills validation
  • Mentor nursing staff and deliver in-service training on workflow updates
  • Assist the Nurse Manager with identifying staff development needs
  • Assist with facility supply and medication ordering; final approval rests with the Nurse Manager
  • Assist with interviewing and onboarding; hiring decisions rest with the Nurse Manager
  • Check company email each shift; maintain professional communication with staff, providers, and leadership
  • Comply with HIPAA, CLIA, and COLA; be available for facility inspections
  • Work as the assigned staff RN for one scheduled 12-hour clinical shift per week
  • Model clinical workflow, documentation standards, and safety practices
  • Serve as an on-shift clinical resource for peers and new hires
  • Any additional duties delegated within scope of practice by the Nurse Manager, Facility Administrator, Operations Manager, or Director of Operations
