About The Position

Mercy Gilbert Medical Center, a 198-bed non-profit facility, is seeking a Labor & Delivery Nurse to provide exceptional, compassionate healthcare. The facility is committed to social justice, health equity, and innovative patient care. The role involves guiding patients through labor and childbirth, prioritizing the safety of mother and baby. The nurse will assess, monitor, and intervene during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases, performing procedures like fetal monitoring, medication administration, circulating for C-sections, and newborn stabilization. Success in this role requires exceptional assessment capabilities, critical thinking, a patient-first approach, and the ability to navigate fast-paced situations.

Requirements

  • Associate Of Nursing Diploma or Foreign Equivalent
  • Registered Nurse: AZ
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), within 6 - months
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), within 6 - months

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors Of Nursing
  • One (1) year labor and delivery experience
  • Other NCC certification in inpatient OB

Responsibilities

  • Triage walk-in patients to determine labor status or false alarms.
  • Support laboring patients with interventions such as induction, epidural assistance, pain management, and fetal monitoring.
  • Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal ligations, cerclages, and emergency procedures.
  • Educate patients on medications, exams, procedures, and stages of labor.
  • Assess and provide care for newborns immediately after delivery.
  • Communicate effectively with the interdisciplinary care team, including physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, lactation nurses, charge nurses, postpartum staff, patients, and families.
