This is a Summer Nurse Extern opportunity at St. Luke's Medical Center's Cardiac Medical Telemetry Observation for December 2026 and/or May 2027 graduates. Aurora St. Luke's is a SIX TIMES designated Magnet Medical Center. You will start as a nurse extern and transition to a nursing position post graduation, making the transition easier with less ambiguities. 6KLM is a 28-bed Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Observation Unit where most patients are admitted from the Emergency Department, providing a great learning experience with exposure to multiple diagnoses and backgrounds. You will care for a diverse population with multiple diagnoses, with an average patient length of stay of 2 days. This unit is ideal for students who enjoy fast-paced environments, are still deciding on a specialty, or are interested in the Emergency Department (ED) and ICU. The Summer Nurse Extern Program requires 36-40 hours a week starting in June 2026 until the end of the summer/full program cycle, lasting 6-8 weeks. Full-time hours are required, and the program does not offer benefits. Completion of Med Surg and pharmacology courses is required, with an unofficial transcript needed at the time of offer.
