About The Position
Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Externship program is an excellent opportunity for nursing students to gain hands-on clinical experience while supporting our exceptional nursing teams. This role allows students to strengthen their clinical skills, enhance patient care knowledge, and prepare for a successful transition into professional nursing practice. This is a developmental program for nursing students who want to develop multiple and varied clinical skills in a multiple nursing specialties. This position requires participation in a guided training and development program aligned to the scope outlines by the State-specific Board of Nursing. All Nurse Extern I employees begin their externship on a Medical-Surgical (Med Surg) unit, working closely with the nursing team to deliver safe, high-quality patient care.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
- Successfully completed Fundamentals of Nursing.

- Available to attend the required New Hire Orientation on October 9, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Assisting nursing staff with daily patient care activities
- Assisting patients with hygiene, mobility, and comfort measures
- Supporting nurses with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges
- Maintaining a clean and organized patient environment
- Collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure exceptional patient outcomes
