The Nursing Educator is responsible for assisting the CNO in evaluating, reviewing, designing and implementing hospital training events with respect to all RN/LVN/MHT staff required training. Also provides, on as-needed basis, patient nursing assessments. Participates in Treatment Team meetings as needed. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited program in nursing.
  • RN/BSN preferred.
  • Licensure by the California Board of Registered Nursing required.
  • A minimum of three (3) years direct clinical experience preferred in a psychiatric or mental health setting, with direct experience in staff education, nursing practices, patient assessments, education concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Knowledge of external review organizations.
  • Knowledge of patient rights, advanced directives, adult and child abuse laws, and emergency detention.
  • Knowledge and utilization of crisis intervention techniques.
  • Knowledge of patient assessment, family motivation and treatment planning techniques.
  • Knowledge of complex patient care planning.
  • Excellent leadership and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Skill in interacting with multiple individuals with diversified roles and perspectives.
  • Skill in organizing and prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines.
  • Skill in telephone etiquette and paging procedures.
