About The Position

Three Trails Behavioral Hospital in Independence, MO is actively hiring an Infection Control Nurse/Nurse Educator. This position is responsible for coordinating the hospital's Infection Prevention and Control Program while providing leadership in staff education, competency development, and clinical training initiatives. The Nurse Educator/Infection Control Nurse will coordinate and maintain the Infection Prevention and Control Program in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards, investigate infection control concerns and recommend corrective actions, provide infection prevention education and guidance to staff, patients, and visitors, ensure compliance with CDC, CMS, Joint Commission, OSHA, and state regulatory requirements, and plan, develop, coordinate, and evaluate nursing education and staff development programs. This role also facilitates new employee orientation, annual competencies, and mandatory education requirements, and serves as a clinical resource and consultant to nursing and interdisciplinary staff. Three Trails Behavioral Hospital will serve children and adolescents, adults and seniors with innovative and evidence-based inpatient behavioral healthcare. The new facility is expected to open in the second half of 2026 and will create more than 200 new, full-time jobs. It will be located at the intersection of I-70 and Little Blue Parkway, adjacent to the Children’s Mercy Hospital Outpatient Clinics, and will feature 120 licensed beds, span more than 88,000 square feet, and include an activity yard and gym.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of nursing required.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice required.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of clinical nursing experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric nursing, infection prevention, staff development, or quality management preferred.
  • Knowledge of infection control principles, adult learning methodologies, and regulatory standards preferred.

Responsibilities
