About The Position

NYU Langone Health is seeking a part-time Nurse Educator for Critical Care/PACU. This role involves assessing and analyzing learning needs for nursing staff, planning, implementing, and evaluating educational activities to support nursing care. The Nurse Educator will participate in the development and implementation of nursing standards, evidence-based practice, and nursing research, while maintaining clinical expertise in a specialty area. The position also requires fostering collaborative relationships within the nursing departments and with other disciplines, and participating in relevant committees.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Professional Nurse licensure in New York State
  • Master's degree in nursing education
  • Certification in Nursing Education required upon eligibility
  • Ability to apply nursing process toward achievement of specific outcomes in an organized fashion to address patient/family satisfaction and quality indicators.
  • Evidence of excellent communication (both oral and written), interpersonal, organization, critical thinking, problem solving, and leadership skills.
  • Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association
  • Three to five years of clinical experience in a specialty area, or combination of staff nurse/leadership experience in the specialty area.
  • Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

  • Collaborates with patient care unit leadership to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies as pertains to staff education and competencies.
  • Identifies and addresses learning needs of nursing staff in assigned clinical areas and throughout the Departments of Nursing to promote and maintain competency.
  • Holds self and others accountable for efficiency and feasibility in the delivery of exemplary care.
  • Communicates with clarity and integrity to build trust with all stakeholders.
  • Participates in the drafting of nursing and organizational policy, engaging front-line staff, and incorporating the precepts of shared governance.
  • Supports data collection in collaboration with the nurse manager and interprofessional team.
  • Fosters high reliability concepts within the unit/organizational structure.
  • Fosters a culture of inquiry, innovation and transformation with a focus on the future.
