About The Position

The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) practitioner provides ongoing and constant support to the transforming healthcare landscape. The NPD practitioner functions as a nurse leader in an interprofessional environment applying evidenced based practice, clinical expertise, and patient values to improve patient outcomes. The NPD practitioner engages in environmental scanning to continuously assess potential professional practice gaps. By using various sources of data, the NPD practitioner identifies learning needs that include but are not limited to emerging issues, new or updated evidenced based guidelines, comparison of current performance and/or outcomes with national data bases and use of new tools and techniques. The NPD practitioner is a master’s prepared registered nurse who influences professional role competence and professional growth of learners in a variety of settings. This NPD practitioner maintains lifelong learners in an interprofessional setting that facilitates continuous development and learning for the healthcare team. The NPD practitioner demonstrates expertise in the identified roles: learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for scientific inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions. This nurse will be providing education, CEUs, and onboarding support for our OR and Endo staff for ambulatory. This position will support all four ASCs. The Nursing Educator position in the Operating Room is responsible for providing personalized education by designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating classroom and clinical instruction to support the orientation, ongoing educational needs, and student/resident experiences in the Operating Room. The Perioperative Educator provides support, education, guidance, direction and assistance to the patient care team in order to attain/maintain quality and safe care to patients in designated clinical areas. The Perioperative Educator functions as an educational consultant within the Operating Rooms, working with teams to cultivate collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The educator provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of personalized nursing care with a focus on positive patient care outcomes and the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care. Patients and their families will experience the benefits of patient focused care, through the integrated skills of all care team members.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (Nursing preferred)
  • 2 years of clinical experience or clinical instruction experience required
  • Preop and Postop experience required.
