About The Position

Symbria is seeking a dedicated and professional Nurse Consultant to join our 100% employee-owned team at our Pharmacy in Auburn, MA. In this unique role, you’ll serve as a vital liaison between pharmacy and long-term care communities, providing consulting, audits, and education to ensure nursing teams meet regulatory requirements and deliver the highest standard of care. This role involves traveling regularly to assigned partner long-term care facilities to provide face-to-face support, resolve complex issues, and serve as a key clinical and operational liaison between the facility and the pharmacy. The primary purpose of this position is to maintain high levels of customer satisfaction while assisting facilities in meeting regulatory requirements and nursing standards of practice. The Nurse is not required to begin each workday at the pharmacy and will primarily work in the field supporting assigned facilities.

Requirements

  • Registered Nursing degree (RN) from an accredited college or university
  • Valid state registered nursing license
  • Clinical experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or a related healthcare setting preferred, minimum two years
  • General computer knowledge including Microsoft Office: Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Exercise professional phone, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to independently manage travel and on-site responsibilities
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards within long-term care
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time
  • Willing to drive to facilities in an assigned region
  • Must use own vehicle for travel with mileage reimbursed

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive knowledge in intravenous (IV) therapies preferred.
  • To have experience as a DON in the long term care setting

Responsibilities

  • Travel to partner long-term care facilities on a regular basis to provide on-site support
  • Serve as a problem-solving resource for facility staff by addressing complex, in-person inquiries related to pharmacy and nursing services
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and foster strong relationships with facility leadership and staff
  • Assist facilities in maintaining compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies
  • Collaborate with Symbria internal teams to ensure timely resolution of concerns and seamless service delivery
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance client satisfaction and operational efficiency
  • Assist with the transition of new long-term care facilities to Symbria Pharmacy services
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Administrators, Directors of Nursing, management teams, and nursing staff to resolve concerns and answer questions
  • Educate facility staff on Symbria Pharmacy policies and procedures, including but not limited to medication administration, medication storage, narcotics, IV therapy and related processes
  • Inform facilities of new pharmacy procedures, processes, and forms, and distribute updated materials as necessary
  • Conduct mock surveys, including med pass observations and auditing medication carts and medication rooms on a regular basis and upon request, to support compliance with applicable state and federal regulations related to pharmacy services
  • Provide one-on-one education and training to nursing staff as appropriate
  • Train facility staff on Symbria’s online portal
  • Assist with any other duties as assigned
