About The Position

As a Nurse Consultant I in the Acute and Home Care Licensure and Certification Section, the main responsibility is to conduct licensure and/or certification onsite surveys or in office review of documentation to ascertain compliance with applicable State Licensure and/or Federal Certification Regulations for Home Care, Home Health and Hospice agencies. This is a home-based position in the Wake /Central Region and should reside in Yadkin, Gaston, Catawba, Cleveland, McDowell, Caldwell, Ashe, Cabarrus, Rowan, Stanly, Buncombe, Haywood, Swain, Rutherford, Yancey, Madison, Mitchell, Avery, Lincoln, and Burke. The Division of Health Service Regulation oversees medical, mental health and adult care facilities, emergency medical services, and local jails. We check to see that people receiving care in these facilities are safe and receive appropriate care. We make certain that medical buildings are built only when there is a need for them.

Requirements

Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina
One year of experience in the area of specialization.
Experience using a computer and MS Office applications.

Nice To Haves

Nursing experience working in home care, home health, and/or hospice agencies.

Responsibilities

Perform on-site standard and/or complaint surveys to ensure compliance with State Licensure and/or Federal Regulations relative to the programs being surveyed.
Use findings obtained from on-site survey activity (i.e. observations, record reviews and interviews) to prepare deficiency reports which provide legal documentation of providers’ non-compliance with applicable State Licensure and/or Federal Regulations
Review Plans of Correction submitted by providers in response to cited deficiencies resulting from on-site surveys.
Provide clarification and information to the public, providers and prospective providers on the licensure and certification process, requirements, and interpretations.
Intake complaints and concerns from the public for investigation.
Respond to written requests for information to the public, providers and other agencies.
Meet with interest groups, such as health care associations, civic clubs, and professional organizations to discuss the present and future goals of the licensure, certification and inspection of care programs.
