About The Position

The Nurse Clinician is responsible for daily nursing staff activities that facilitate optimal patient care. The role collaborates with the Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and others to implement and evaluate nursing and quality assurance activities and educational programs on the assigned unit. This is a 24-hour-per-week position scheduled on Friday, Monday, and Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., on the day shift.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse licensure and registration.
Two years of current tertiary care nursing experience.
One year of experience in a clinical preceptor and/or resource role.
Demonstrated leadership experience.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and conduct educational programs for nursing staff, including in-service, Basic Life Support, and continuing education programs.
Coordinate nursing activities needed to meet patient and unit needs.
Keep the Nurse Manager informed about nursing workload, changes in patient and employee needs, and other problems.
Coordinate orientation schedules and assignments for unit orientees.
Assist clinical preceptors in teaching defined competencies to nursing staff.
Create an atmosphere conducive to learning and practice in accordance with Standards of Nursing Practice.
Collaborate with the Nurse Manager, Clinical Nurse Specialist, and others to define nursing standards, practices, and educational needs of patients and nursing staff.
Participate with the Nurse Manager in coordinating the unit quality improvement program and evaluating quality-monitoring outcomes.
Facilitate communication between nurses and other disciplines.
Interview and recommend potential nursing candidates for hire.
Participate in performance reviews and provide staff counseling as necessary.
Provide immediate discipline for nursing staff as necessary and recommend disciplinary action to the Nurse Manager.
