About The Position

The Nurse Clinician is a professional nurse and an expert in the care of a specified patient population or subspecialty area. The clinician assumes a leadership role and supervisory responsibilities in developing, organizing, and implementing care services for that population. The position is in the Urology and Neurosurgery Clinic at the Main Campus McWane Building and is full-time, day shift, Monday through Friday.

The clinic includes services from board-certified pediatric genitourinary surgeons and pediatric neurological surgeons, with interests including trauma, urethral reflux, hypospadias, kidney stones, voiding dysfunction, spina bifida, brain tumor management, hydrocephalus, seizure surgery, and Chiari management. Fellows, residents, and certified registered nurse practitioners provide care in these areas under attending physician supervision.

Requirements

• Alabama single-state Registered Nurse credential, or an equivalent Alabama or non-Alabama NLC multistate Registered Nurse credential.
• Basic Life Support.
• Associate of Science in Nursing.
• At least 2 years of job experience at the staff level with specialization in the field of nursing.
• Previous demonstration of expert clinical management, teaching, research, and consultation skills in the subspecialty population.

Nice To Haves

• Basic Life Support Instructor.
• Certified Pediatric Nurse, or an equivalent qualification: Certified Pediatric Oncology Nurse, Certified Registered Nurse of Infusion, Certified Registered Rehabilitation Nurse, Certified Nephrology Nurse, Certified Nurse Operating Room, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse, Certified Pediatric Emergency Nurse, or Certified Pediatric Hematology Oncology Nurse.
