About The Position

This position is located within Tripler Army Medical Center, Department of Medicine Chemo Research in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation. Duties include providing specialized nursing care to adult outpatients using advanced infusion nursing skills, developing individualized care plans, and communicating lab and diagnostic results to physicians. The role involves performing venipuncture, IV insertion, dialysis access, medication administration, and hemodialysis. Additionally, the nurse will educate and support patients and families while managing symptom-related calls and blood pressure monitoring.

Requirements

• Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine suitability for Federal employment.
• This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time.
• Requires completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter.
• Immunization screening is required.
• Hepatitis B immunization is required for all positions with direct patient contact.
• Mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and subject to annual vaccination.
• Must meet the basic requirement for Nurse (Clinical/Ambulatory): A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program.
• Must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination.
• For foreign degrees, official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools is required.
• A diploma, associate degree, or bachelor's degree in Nursing from a professional nursing program and possession of at least one full year of professional nursing experience (equivalent to the GS-9 grade level or above) which includes providing comprehensive professional nursing care to patients; administering medications through various methods: and providing patient and staff education.
• Male applicants born after December 31, 1959 must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration.
• Must provide proof of U.S. Citizenship.
• Requires a 1-year probationary period.
• Direct Deposit of Pay is required.
• Basic Life Support training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross.

Nice To Haves

• Current Advanced Life Support or other advanced certification does not supersede BLS completion.
• The duties of this position may require the incumbent to carry a cell phone and be on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week on a rotational basis, based on the needs of the organization.
