About The Position

The Nursing Supervisor is accountable for the overall coordination of care and flow of acute and non-acute patients throughout their stay. This includes the flow to and from other facilities within Region and Provincial/Inter-provincial. They also provide supportive care of other departments at the Victoria Hospital. They are responsible and accountable for patient bed management and utilize the Victoria Hospital beds and nursing staff resources in collaboration with the Unit Manager during their hours of work and in the off hours. The Nursing Supervisor is the management representative in the absence of the Unit Managers and all senior administrative personnel; therefore they provide both clinical and administrative direction and leadership within the hospital. They will rotate through the Acute Care Access Program working together with a Senior Social Worker to prevent unnecessary admissions to acute care and facilitate discharge planning at time of admission for complex care needs.

Requirements

  • Five (5) years nursing experience in the specific clinical area
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
  • Basic Life Support Certificate (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)
  • Decision making skills
  • Interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • Ability to establish/maintain effective working internal/external relationships
  • Knowledge of principles/practices/procedures of hospital/nursing administration
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Ability to supervise large-scale and comprehensive nursing activities
  • Ability to manage successful organizational change
  • Knowledge in LEAN management system
  • Knowledge of professional nursing theory and practice
  • Registered/eligible with the College of Registered Nurses of Saskatchewan (CRNS)

  • Nursing diploma is acceptable
