About The Position
The Medical/Surgical Care Unit 3W at Corewell Health is seeking a Nurse Assistant to provide high-quality, patient and family-centered care. This unit specializes in conditions of the Gastrointestinal tract, including post-resection care, bariatric surgery, abdominal pain, and GI bleeds, as well as urology patients. Unit 3W is recognized for its teamwork, having received the “Team Daisy Award” multiple times. Grosse Pointe Hospital, a Magnet-designated facility recognized by U.S. News & World Report, offers exceptional nursing and advanced care services, including The James and Patricia Anderson Surgical Center and the Baby Friendly-designated Cotton Family Birth Center.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification required
- Current CNA certification preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately
- Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
- Basic computer knowledge is preferred
- Ability to move or lift patients and equipment
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
- Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
- Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
- Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
