About The Position

The Medical Progressive Care Unit (MPCU) is a 12-bed unit specializing in the care of patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, and stroke. These patients require a higher level of care than a general floor but are not sick enough for the ICU. They are hardwired to bedside monitors. The unit typically has two Nurse Assistants on the day shift and one on the night shift. Covid patients are routinely cared for on this unit. MPCU patients often require the same drips as ICU patients, with the exception of vasopressors and sedation. As a Nurse Assistant, you play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of our patients. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), you'll perform specific patient care duties, provide input for care plans, and respond to emergent situations. Your work directly supports our nursing team and contributes to the exceptional care we provide at Henry Ford Health.

Requirements

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (e.g., Patient Care Technician or Patient Assistant Technician) OR currently enrolled in a nursing program with successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing OR foreign trained and licensed RN without a Michigan RN license OR Medical Assistant program with or without experience OR at least one year of previous experience in a similar role.
Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.

Nice To Haves

CNA certification preferred.
