Nurse Assistant 2NE Progressive Care Unit
About The Position
The Nurse Assistant 2NE Progressive Care Unit provides care to patients according to the plan of care, unit routine, and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse. This role involves the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services, and appropriate documentation. The Nurse Assistant also serves as an Observer for patients requiring constant observation, performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit, and documents care provided in the electronic medical record. This position is part-time, 24 hours per week, with shifts from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and variable days worked, including every third weekend. The role is located at the Grosse Pointe Hospital on the Progressive Care Unit 2NE.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support certification required
- Ability to communicate effectively and document information accurately
- Ability to deal efficiently and effectively with a wide variety of individuals
- Ability to move or lift patients and equipment
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
- Current CNA certification preferred
- Knowledge of basic medical terminology preferred
- Basic computer knowledge is preferred
Responsibilities
- Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
- Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
- Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
- Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
