About The Position

This role involves providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, assisting with bathing, dressing, and moving patients, changing linens, and other assigned duties. The position also requires obtaining information on patient condition and reporting any changes to the nursing staff. For trainees, this role functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to gain training as unlicensed assistive personnel, with supervision from a clinical educator and nursing staff during clinical rotations. A competency assessment will be administered at the end of the training program.

Requirements

  • BLS must be obtained within 90 days
  • 3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or Surgical Technologist in the past 3 years OR Completed an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exhibits valuable time management skills
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Is available for work on a consistent and timely basis
  • Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Prior patient care or health care related experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff.
  • Perform duties such as take vitals, bathe, dress, move patients, change linens and other duties as assigned.
  • Obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff, and reports any changes in patient condition.
  • Functions within a classroom and clinical learning environment to obtain training as unlicensed assistive personnel.
  • While in the clinical learning environment, will provide basic patient care under direction and supervision of clinical educator and nursing staff.
  • During clinical rotation, may perform duties such as taking vitals, bathing, dressing, moving patients, changing linens and other duties within their scope of practice as directed.
  • While in clinical setting, obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff or clinical educator and reports any changes in patient condition.
  • At the end of the training, a competency assessment will be administered to validate learning.
