About The Position
The Hematology/Oncology Unit, a 40-bed unit with all private rooms, specializes in all adult cancer-related diagnosis and bone marrow transplants. Common in treating cancer, patients often return for follow up or when treatment requires them to be hospitalized for a long time. As a result, staff develops a relationship with patients and their families. Although working with patients who have cancer can be tough, both mentally and emotionally, the staff encourages each other to stay positive and to create a fun working environment. Nursing assistants are intellectually stimulated and learn many useful skills to prepare them for their future career. As a Nurse Assistant, you will play a vital role in ensuring the safety, comfort, and well-being of our patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). You’ll assist in patient care duties, provide valuable input for care planning, and respond to emergent situations. Your work directly supports the RNs and contributes to the overall quality of patient care at Henry Ford Health.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
- Completion of a Nurse Assistant program (e.g., Patient Care Technician or Patient Assistant Technician) OR currently enrolled in a nursing program with successful completion of Fundamentals of Nursing OR foreign trained and licensed RN without a Michigan RN license OR Medical Assistant program with or without experience OR at least one (1) year of previous experience in an NA, PCT, PAT, or similar role.
- Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during orientation.
Nice To Haves
- CNA certification preferred.
Responsibilities
