About The Position
The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) is a vital team within Corewell Health, comprising a diverse group of healthcare professionals including Nurses (ICU, progressive-care, and medical-surgical), Nursing Assistants, and Patient Observation Aides. Similar to lifeguards, NRP staff are deployed across the hospital daily to support areas experiencing short staffing. This role offers a unique and valuable learning experience, especially for those in school, as it provides exposure to a wide range of patient populations and care needs across nearly every unit in the hospital. The dynamic nature of the assignments ensures that NRP staff rarely experience boredom, as the patient types they care for vary significantly from day to day. The contributions of the NRP staff are highly valued and appreciated by patients, families, and hospital staff alike for their expertise and support.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
- Current CNA certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
- Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
- Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
- Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
