About The Position

The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) is comprised of various Nurses, Nursing Assistants, and Patient Observation Aides who are deployed throughout the hospital to assist short-staffed areas. This role offers a dynamic learning environment, allowing staff to care for a wide range of patients across different units, ensuring the work remains engaging and varied. The Nurse Assistant in the Staffing Office Float Pool provides patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse, following the established plan of care, unit routines, and hospital policies. Key responsibilities include the safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, managing dispatch services, and accurately documenting services. The role also involves providing constant observation for patients requiring it, either in person or through remote video monitoring, to enhance their safety. Additionally, the Nurse Assistant performs general receptionist and clerical duties to support the efficient operation of the nursing unit and meticulously documents all provided care in the electronic medical record.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
  • Current CNA certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
  • Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
  • Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
  • Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
  • Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
