PRN, CNA I, Wilkes Progressive Care Unit
About The Position
Progressive Care is a 16-bed unit, sometimes referred to as a “Step-Down Unit” for patients who are recovering from critical conditions but still require close monitoring and more frequent assessments than a standard unit can offer. Our Progressive Care is dedicated to providing patient and family-centered care, while collaborating with the healthcare team, including physicians/providers, specialists, case management, respiratory therapists, and more to ensure each patient receives the most complete care. Our low nurse to patient ratio, multiple nurse aides, and out-of-staffing charge nurse ensures quality care, frequent monitoring, and exceptional customer service.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Completion of an applicable State Approved Nurse Aide I course required.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Performs effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands
- Basic computer skills
Responsibilities
- Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by giving direct care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
- Performs special procedures correctly under the direction of Registered Nurse (RN).
- Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility.
- Ensures complete, accurate and timely communication of patient information.
- Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner.
- Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
- Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
