About The Position

This is a Full-time Nurse Assistant I position on the 9 Ardmore East General Medicine unit at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The unit is a 24-bed general medical unit specializing in Respiratory care with integrated Telemetry monitoring. It caters to a diverse mix of medical and surgical patients, including those transitioning from critical care, and is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced setting and enjoy variety. The role involves providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN), performing special procedures, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, ensuring accurate communication of patient information, and providing age-appropriate care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Completion of an applicable State Approved Nurse Aide I course required.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required.
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Performs effectively with frequent workload changes and competing demands
• Basic computer skills

Responsibilities

• Participates in the implementation of the nursing process by giving direct care to patients under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN).
• Performs special procedures correctly under the direction of Registered Nurse (RN).
• Creates and maintains a safe and therapeutic environment for patients, self, co-workers, and facility.
• Ensures complete, accurate and timely communication of patient information.
• Communicates to the team, co-workers, patients and family members in an effective, positive and professional manner.
• Takes personal responsibility and initiative for performance, professional growth and development.
• Provides age/developmental appropriate patient care in accordance with Age/Developmental Specific Care Guidelines for the specific age groups served.
