Nurse Assistant I - 5E Intensive Care Unit

About The Position
Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Nurse Assistant I supports nursing staff and assists with delivering patient care in accordance with the patient care plan and hospital policies and procedures. The position is in the 5E Intensive Care Unit, works day shift with daily work times that vary, and is scheduled for 72 hours bi-weekly.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- BLS certification as a Healthcare Provider or equivalent through the Military Training Network (MTN).
- At least six months of prior nursing assistant experience if the specialized education requirements listed in the posting have not been met.
Nice To Haves
- Direct patient care experience preferred.
- Acute care nursing assistant course preferred for acute care positions.
- For candidates not meeting the six-month nursing assistant experience requirement, specialized education may include a long-term care nursing assistant course, an emergency medical technician program, a medical assistant program, or a clinical rotation while participating in an accredited nursing program.
Responsibilities
- Respond to call lights and provide routine patient care, including ambulating, transferring, positioning, personal hygiene assistance, and prescribed bowel and bladder program assistance.
- Collect, record, and report patient data, and report changes in patient condition.
- Perform surgical skin preps and basic skin care procedures.
- Perform bedside finger-stick blood sugar testing and quality control checks of blood glucose instruments.
