About The Position

This is an apprenticeship opportunity for a Nurse Assistant in the Ortho Neuro department at St. John Hospital. The role involves performing specific patient care duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) or licensed clinician to meet the safety and comfort needs of the patient. The apprentice will provide input for patient care planning and implementation, respond to emergent situations, and participate in their own continuing education. The position requires adherence to the Henry Ford Health System Team Member Standards of Excellence.

Requirements

Must be enrolled in HFHS Department of Labor (DOL) approved apprenticeship program.
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Must complete HFHS Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship Program recognized by the Department of Labor (DOL), successfully pass all testing and/or exam, and complete all HFHS Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship Program competencies within the timeframe designated in the HFHS Nurse Assistant Apprenticeship Program.
Requires ability to read, write and understand verbal and written instructions.
Strong interpersonal and customer skills required in order to interact effectively with individuals from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Must be able to lift, carry, transfer and move clients if needed.
Complete BLS Heart Saver Certification during apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

Perform specific patient care duties to meet safety and comfort needs of the patient under the direction and supervision of the responsible Registered Nurse (RN) and/or licensed clinician.
Provide input to assist the RN and/or licensed clinician in planning and implementing patient care.
Respond to emergent situations according to established procedures.
Recognize and participate in own continuing education.
