Requirements

  • Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
  • This position is assigned to a long-term or specialized care facility and requires active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Assist residents with bathing, grooming, toileting, transfers, and meal activities in accordance with their care plans
  • Observe and report changes in resident conditions and participate in care discussions during team meetings and shift reports
  • Apply safety devices, gather vital sign data, help maintain clean and organized rooms, and monitor areas for potential hazards
  • Transport residents by wheelchair, stretcher, or geri chair and escort them to outside appointments as needed
  • Record care and services on required forms to meet regulatory and State Veterans Home (SVH) standards
  • Change linens, collect and dispose of waste, restock supplies, and help maintain tidy and comfortable rooms
