Nurse Aide (Part-Time) - Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center
About The Position
As a part-time Nurse Aide with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) at the Gino J. Merli Veterans' Center, you will play a key part in creating a safe, steady, and encouraging environment for veterans and their spouses. This role offers meaningful hands-on involvement and the chance to support licensed staff as residents move through their daily routines. You will help promote comfort, dignity, and organization throughout the unit, making each resident feel supported and respected. Requirements
- Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry; or Six months of paid experience in the care and treatment of geriatric or physically ill patients or residents.
- Active registration as a Nurse Aide in the Pennsylvania Nurse Aide Registry.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
- A conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily activities, grooming, meals, transfers, and restorative programs
- Observe resident conditions, report changes, answer call bells, and participate in shift-to-shift updates
- Maintain organized resident rooms, remove obstacles, report concerns, and support a neat homelike environment
- Apply stockings, elastic bandages, and skin care products, and gather vital signs and related information
- Record all care and services performed for residents on appropriate forms
- Escort residents to appointments, move residents safely, and monitor outdoor areas when needed
