About The Position

The Nurse Aide/Ward Clerk must possess the skills and knowledge to provide population-specific care. They must be able to assess and identify patient needs and requirements and report findings appropriately to the charge nurse/team leader. The Nurse Aide/Ward Clerk reports directly to the charge nurse/team leader.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Completion of certified nurse assistant course.
  • Secretarial background with some medical terminology and usage preferred.
  • BLS certification required within 6 months of employment.
  • MO CNA, EMT, or have completed Fundamentals Class in Nursing school.
  • Successful completion of hospital orientation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and simply with every customer and co-worker.
  • Ability to display a positive, courteous and friendly attitude toward all contacts.
  • Ability to build good relationships with others based upon a sustained effort of mutual support toward common goals.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, reasoning and concentration to detail and to take personal accountability for all actions in carrying out job duties.
  • Is customer focused and committed to Quality and Process Improvement with a strong desire to provide service excellence.
  • Possesses and displays a strong knowledge and understanding of the standards of practice for their position including, if and when applicable, commensurate computer skills; population specific and general competencies; organizational skills, time and project management.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure self-compliance with professional, regulatory, and government standards of care.
  • Demonstrate the knowledge and skill to perform clerical duties and personal care in regards to the patient. Accurately transcribe orders and other clinical data.
  • Hold self accountable and responsible for work performance and continuous improvement of patient care in their work area and throughout the hospital.
  • Organize care and prioritize it by communicating and collaborating with others for a multidisciplinary approach to provide a continuity of care.
  • Ensure the satisfactory completion of clerical and personal care for patient and family.
  • Other duties as assigned.
