About The Position

This position is ideal for experienced nurses who want to teach Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) and other short-term healthcare courses. Classes are currently scheduled on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. for nine months of the year, providing a predictable and manageable commitment. Instructors also have the flexibility to add additional classes if desired. This is an excellent opportunity for nurses who want to share their expertise and make a meaningful impact without the demands of a full-time role.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved School of Nursing with active RN licensure in Iowa or a compact state (or ability to obtain).
Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Registered Nurse.
Registered nurse in Iowa or a compact state or the ability to obtain one.
CPR and Dependent/Chip abuse certification.
Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree in nursing or a related field preferred.
At least 1 year of full-time employment in long-term care strongly preferred but not required.
Teaching or training experience preferred.
Strong clinical and instructional skills with a commitment to student success.
Flexible and self-motivated, able to manage a PRN schedule.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities.
Open to using new technologies and teaching strategies

Responsibilities

Teach CNA and related courses in accordance with approved course outlines and DIA (Department of Inspections and Appeals) requirements.
Provide CNA clinical instruction in local long-term care facilities.
Deliver content using a variety of instructional methods and technologies (in-person, online, and hybrid).
Develop and maintain course syllabi and materials.
Maintain accurate student and course records to meet state and federal standards.
Coordinate with the Health Education Coordinator to schedule classes based on instructor availability and program needs.
Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development activities as appropriate.
Provide mentorship for new instructors when needed.
Maintain a clean and professional instructional environment.
Supports the overall success of the District by performing other duties as assigned.
