About The Position

Under the general supervision of and in collaboration with the Manager Health Services and while demonstrating a commitment to the Mission, Values and Management Philosophy of St. Boniface Hospital, the PERINATAL NURSE is responsible for assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the health care needs of all high-risk or at-risk obstetrical patients seen on-site at St. Boniface Hospital in the Fetal Assessment Unit. Please be advised this position will work in the Fetal Assessment Unit as well as the Obstetrics, Gynecology & Neonatology Relief Team as needed.

Requirements

• Current C.R.N.M. registration required.
• Minimum of two (2) years recent, related nursing experience required in a high risk perinatal unit required.
• Demonstrated nursing assessment skills required.
• Successful completion of the relevant portions of the Obstetrical Sonography Program through the Burwin Institute or recognized equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license and use of own vehicle required.
• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated effective organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking/problem solving, leadership and decision making skills in response to a variety of simultaneous demands.
• Demonstrated clinical competence.
• Demonstrated teaching ability.
• A current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.
• Travel to remote locations through various forms of transportation (eg: airplane, boat, etc) required.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in a fetal assessment unit is preferred.
• Demonstrated research experience is an asset.
• Midwifery Program and Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Fetal Assessment Unit as well as the Obstetrics, Gynecology & Neonatology Relief Team as needed.
