About The Position

The registered nurse is under the direct supervision of the nurse in charge and is responsible for providing direct patient care management. The RN fosters positive, professional communications, functions according to the standards of the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba and the Churchill Regional Health Authority and will function as Nurse in Charge as directed by the Nursing Supervisor or Nurse in Charge. The registered nurse will participate in Quality Service and Quality Improvement Programs and Function as a member of the health care team, participating in staff education and professional development.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a recognized diploma and/or degree program in nursing.
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Manitoba (CRNM).
  • Current CPR Certification.
  • Scope of practice as documented in the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)/Registered Psychiatric Nurses Act.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to foster good public relationships and effective working relationships.
  • Demonstrates a calm and confident manner during emergency and/or difficult situations.
  • Possible eye strain.
  • Possible heavy lifting.
  • Possible posture and muscle problems.
  • Possible contact with clients/patients with aggressive behavior.
  • Working with sharp objects.
  • Other demands as it pertains to position.
  • Possible extreme fatigue due to shift work.
  • Current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search), Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous acute care experience an asset.
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • ACLS an asset.

Benefits

  • Pensionable Salary Enhancement - Nurses in eligible classifications may be eligible to earn an additional $5.95/hour when working full-time hours within a prescribed six-month reporting period. (Effective April 1, 2025 – March 31st 2027.)
