This position involves administering medication, monitoring patient compliance, performing treatments, assisting with sick calls and chronic care clinics, and responding to emergencies. The role includes patient assessment, documentation, specimen collection, and preparing patients for release or transfer. Responsibilities also extend to ensuring discharge medication orders are completed, participating in training, assisting other healthcare staff, investigating concerns, reviewing shift reports, assisting physicians, assuming duties of absent nurses, counseling patients, participating in quality assurance and health initiatives, and performing administrative tasks. The Nurse 1 may also provide training and work direction to new personnel and serve as a lead clinical authority in the absence of supervisors.
