The Nurse 1 (Registered Nurse) administers medication, monitors patient compliance, performs treatments, assists with doctor's sick call, and manages chronic care clinics. The role involves responding to emergencies, performing patient assessments, collecting vital signs, and documenting findings. Responsibilities include preparing patients for release or transfer, ensuring discharge medication orders are completed, and participating in training exercises. The nurse will also provide assistance to other healthcare staff, investigate and document problem areas, review shift reports, and assist physicians with medical procedures. Additionally, the position involves assuming duties of other nurses during absences, counseling patients on healthcare maintenance and disease prevention, participating in quality assurance activities, and providing training and work direction to new nurses and other healthcare personnel. The Nurse 1 serves as a resource for healthcare and security staff, provides orientation and training for new personnel, and acts as the lead clinical authority on-site in the absence of supervisors. The role also includes participating in group programming, health and wellness initiatives, administrative duties, attending meetings, and scheduling multidisciplinary team meetings. The Nurse 1 may also assume charge nurse duties, making shift work assignments, and assisting with inventory and ordering of medical supplies.
