The Nucor Technical Academy is a training program designed to teach electrical maintenance fundamentals and to train individuals with a high school diploma (or GED) to the level of a maintenance electrician within a 27-month training period. This program combines education, company culture, and current training initiatives from across Nucor. It provides essential classroom instruction and structured hands-on training to prepare participants for a career as a Maintenance Electrician. Responsibilities will involve practical assignments working alongside experienced Nucor Maintenance Team Members. The Nucor Technical Academy is administered at Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa, Inc. in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Selected candidates will begin with online academic coursework and participate in limited on-the-job training at their sponsoring Nucor division during the first summer and initial fall. Candidates will then relocate to Tuscaloosa for five continuous semesters to undertake technical courses and on-the-job training at Nucor Steel Tuscaloosa. Opportunities to return to sponsoring divisions between semesters are available until graduation. Safety is paramount in all Nucor roles. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.
